We have been on a WILD roller coaster ride today.
It all started when Rob Manfred pulled off some secret spy shit when he snuck out of New York without anyone noticing to go meet with the President of the Players Union, Tony Clark, in Arizona to reach a deal to give us baseball.
A little while later Jon Heyman threw another haymaker when he tweeted that a deal between Manfred and the Players Union was close.
Naturally this tweet sent Social Media into a frenzy with everybody and their mother excited about the possibility of actually getting to watch baseball this year.
Then, literally every other baseball writer said that a deal was not close.
Social media then directed their anger at Jon Heyman, but luckily for him the proposal from Major League Baseball was leaked to the media and it took the heat off.
Lastly, Rob Manfred released a positive statement about the possible return to play.
After all that, where does that leave us? Who the hell knows?! I think that it is likely that a deal is reached now, but I also thought a deal was close last week and it got blown up. So lets hope that a deal gets done, but I won’t believe that baseball is back until I see Mookie Betts in right field for the Dodgers on Opening Day.
Update:
Whatever Nightengale says, the opposite happens. We are so screwed.
